I went to see the fireworks today! It’s not as beautiful or astounding as it was in Disneyland (duh!) But it is still very nice and exciting!~

Ahh…last year during this time I was traveling to San Francisco, and saw the fireworks in the bus. I can’t believe its been a year already!

It’s so sad that it’s been 3 years since I left California.

Oh well

So today I walked 2 hours to a lake that will play big fireworks, it’s been raining all day and is pretty cold.

When I get there, I waited 1 hour for the fireworks, there were lots of people celebrating and partying. Some drunk college students here and there xD.

I spend 3 hours in the coldness, in exchange for 10 minutes of happiness.

Fireworks sure is beautiful, then I returned home in a car. The driver’s dog was nice to me, because I played with him.

And now I have this terrible headache, my heart hurts like hell. So I put on Mika Nakashima‘s Love album. Shiina’s music will kill me right now for sure xD

And I’m home alone again, so I’m not going to sleep, because I’m such a wimp.

Oh yes! I was wearing a raincoat while walking to the lake. Someone took a photo of me—in the back xD

I looked like a hungry witch who is going to a evening banquet which has delicious human flesh

Genie, as the promotion track for the album, is pretty great. No, it’s really awesome! I guess all the boy fans’ heart melted into the shape of heart when the girls sang “I’m genie for you boy, I’m genie for your wish, I’m genie for your dream…” But, what does “genie” mean? It says “genie” means “monster” in my dictionary…

Whatever about the meaning, Genie is a addictive dance song with nice melodies and showed a more mature side of the girls. I really hate the talking part in the beginning/middle/end of the song though, they should cut that part out. The leader (Taeyeon)’s solo towards the end was amazing. I don’t know if it will do better than Gee but it is a very nice song.

Etude is a typical song from SNSD, it has their signature cheerful and youth feeling to it. The song is sweet and laid back, it feels pretty great to hear all the girls join together and sing because it just sounds wonderful.

I love Girlfriend and Boyfriend. Girlfriend is a cutesy and upbeat song that feels smoothing and lovely, it’s just full of liveliness and youth! The main chorus is just <3 . Compare to Girlfriend, Boyfriend is more of a sexy pop song with strong background beats and catchy chorus. The chorus is really unique and fresh. I actually like Boyfriend the most out of the entire album.

And now we have two ballads, it is the perfect way to show off their strong vocals. Fairy Tale is a heartwarming ballad, the special part is the cool beats in the background that makes the song have more rhythm. How I love all the members singing together, it’s just so lovely! Fairy Tale also give the Fairytale-ish presence with all the classical instruments played in the song.

One Year Later is a duo between Jesssica and Onew from SHINee. It is a sad, emotional ballad. There is nothing special to this song, it sounds like the typical ballads you hear with the piano and slow melodies, but the vocals were really great.  I’m just not a big fan of ballads…

Conclusion

I am truly impressed with SNSD this time! To tell you the truth…I only liked Gee in their Gee mini album, I was quite disappointed with other tracks from Gee. But this time all the tracks sounds amazing with high qualities that not only showed SNSD’s ability to sing but also is really addicting. This album showed more variety from SNSD and also contains wonderful and enjoyable tracks.

Score: 4, highly recommend, well done, better than their previous works in overall quality

Just want to let you know, Vogue Girl is HOT HOT HOT and AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! It is a techno dance song with addictive chorus and unique arrangements. When I first hear the song I thought it is very refreshing with cool beats, and it has slowly grew onto me. The beginning of the song kinda reminds me of Big Bang’s music, with similar deep bass played in the background. The song is just stylish and addicting.

Crazy‘s intro was pretty crazy too with Lee Jung Hyun saying “Crazy baby…” in a flirty tone. Yes it is a pretty flirty and sexy song, Lee’s voice is sweet and feminine. Towards the end the song slowly became stronger and sounded more fierce. Crazy is a really interesting and fun song to hear.

In You’re Mine, few instruments were used from what I heard, it is just constant background beats and electric bass mixed with Lee’s vocals. Oh and few pretty catchy male raps here and there. Despite the fact that it is not as complex as the previous tracks the song still has its own unique traits and feeling to it.

I like how Lee’s voice sounds different in every song. 2Night is a song that gives the impression of nightclub and party. Lee was singing in a murmurous way, and I’m loving the raps in the song. It is very catchy and sexy song just like Crazy.

Miro I is a quiet and peaceful interlude with the sound of music box and Lee humming. It is short and sweet, get us ready for the Miro II.

Miro II follows the same concept as Miro I with peaceful and musical-like melody. It is a mid-tempo song and the main chorus sounds a bit sorrowful. It is really different from other tracks of the album. For some reason the chorus reminds me of the old Soviet Union ballads…I suppose it’s the sound of accordion that makes me think that way.

Conclusion

I am really glad that Aikorin recommended me Lee Jung Hyun, I never knew there is such an unique and talented singer like her!!! All the tracks are amazing and has its own uniqueness to it and none of them sound repetitive at all. I didn’t get immediately hooked up to the album but it is slowly grew onto me. I mean all the tracks are amazingly done with fantastic arrangements and catchy melodies! The more you hear it, the more you will love it. You have to give it a try especially if you are a fan of pop/dance music.

It’s too awesome!!!!

So few days ago I read Bozu’s review on Hitomi’s thermo plastic and he said that it is one of the best album he have ever heard in his life.

And last night, I have found the best album I have ever heard in my life.

I feel so lucky, *sniff* to enjoy such an amazing and flawless work

I mean, you are so lucky if you can find something that makes you fall in love with!

Ok ok never mind, I can’t express my feelings right now, because my brain is still in the tofu state.

It’s going to be fine, it’s going to be FUN! Please, my review is terrible, so don’t underestimate this album because of my review!

The beginning of Kyogen-Shou is magnificent with the heavy rock riffs followed by cheerful sounds of flutes, the chorus is a little out of order but is picked up later on and become memorable. This is not my favorite song from the album but the flutes and Shiina’s shifting vocals just makes it very powerful and steady, towards the end there is a a preview of the next track , which is my most loved track in the entire album. Yokushitsu is the first song I heard some Shiina, what caught my attention is the mysterious feeling it presents and the unique arrangements it has. The techno/dance beats, the guitar riffs, along with Shiina’s sweet vocal makes it a memorable and dreamy song, oh and her famous rolling-r! It’s humrous and goes well with the melody. Benkai Debussy is a sexy song with Latino-ish beginnings, but later on the song become crazy and chaotic, the chorus is just going around and around in your head and close off with a series of breaking/outer-space like voices.

Ok…I thought Gibs is some kind of fish’s name. I have no idea it means plastic surgery in Japanese. It seems that Shiina is really interested in those hospital/cleaning/medical things? She wears nurse uniform in Honnou MV and her 3rd album cover is a bathtub. Gibs does not give me the feeling of a hospital or a plastic surgeon at all, instead it sounds like a western-influenced love song to me. With clear and calming beginning followed by catchy main chorus. The song is very emotional, I love the part when she exaggerates “zutto…zutto..zutto“, it is just so memorable. Oh! It also have the same chaotic ending like Benkai Debussy.

Well Yami ni furu ame (Rain that falls in darkness) does sound like its name. Begin with deep and constrain sounds of cello, it sure make me imagine (yes again) myself being in a rainstorm in the deep forest (Eeek). But then a more cheerful and organized violin verse took over and all the creepiness drifts away. (Hallelujah!) The song also gives a dramatic/musical like feeling. It’s pure awesomeness!!!

Identity is a typical rock-n-roll song starts off with continuous of exciting electric guitar riffs, and Shiina’s shriek! Gee I think it is almost a whistle register! It is an agitated song that will surely makes people go wild if they are in some sort of racing event haha. The chorus reminds me of Anime theme songs, it just got the same fervour, uplifting feeling to it. And then, just when I was enjoying all the excitement…Tsumi to Batsu came up with another round of creepiness. It has really dark and Gothic opening, Shiina again yelled in this song but this time in a sorrowful way. Her voice was just astounding! It’s full of emotion and I loved it when her voice breaks out. It would sound really nice in some French movies, it just got this emotional, raging thing to it.

I guess Shiina is also a philosopher…Stoicism believes in, well basically in restrain and control. It is a short interlude with disordered vocals and mix of nonidentical sounds. The overall feeling of the interlude is quite fun and cheerful, pretty opposite compare to the original meaning of Stoicism. (unless I comprehended it in the wrong way)

And I lol-ed at Ysuki ni makeinu!!! Moon Loser!! What is that?  So, moon is calming and quite, loser is depressing and stupid. In the beginning I thought this would be a ballad since Shiina was singing calming-ly just like the feeling of the moon. (sorry this is a really bad connection) However this song turns out to be a upbeat rock song full of enthusiasm. I guess she is trying to express the sadness of being a loser in the moon? Or she is laughing at the stupid person who is a loser even on the moon?

Sakana is also one of my personal favorite, it is a song that captured me instantly. With smoothing and lovely intro of sweet chorus humming peacefully…I don’t know how to explain the melody and the structure of Sakana. The way Shiina sang in this song, I think it’s flirty…it sounds so sexy when she exaggerates the ending of each verse. This song has a bit jazz elements to it, therefore yes very sexy and sometimes sounds lazy in a sexy way haha.

Byoushou Public has similar beginning as Identity, it is a collaboration song between Shiina and another unnamed male (or Shiina’s voice been processed deeper). I love the deeper voice, it’s laid back yet intense in some ways. Even though the name means “sickbed public”, the song is very cute and exciting. It is pure rock.

Hyaaaaaaaa~ Shiina showed her powerful Kung-fu and dressed in sexy nurse uniform <3

I guess Honnou is one of her signature song, when the MV was released, it is said that she started this “nurse uniform” fashion in Japan…Ok

What’s so special about Honnou? I don’t know, I did not look up for the lyrics of the song. But it is a very memorable and amazing song.

Success formula:

The weird, strange intro+cool electric guitar riffs+Shiina’s unique vocals+catchy and addictive chorus+the combination of Rock with other variety of music=fantastic song that is epic and will be remembered forever

It is so sad that the fun party is almost over, it was a great listening, I become dependent on Shiina’s music now…

Izon-shou is beautiful, it is beautiful in many ways. I love the peaceful beginning of the song, the bells ringing the background, Shiina’s quiet voices, the occasional piano melodies, all creates this wonderful feeling of heaven like atmosphere. I also love the main chorus, when the song takes another turn and goes wild and breaks the harmony it just created seconds before. Why do I like it? Because we love violence and emotions xD. The main chorus has a slight feeling of sadness in it, I guess Shiina doesn’t want to say goodbye to us as well. The song ends with a long and amazing guitar solo.

Oh my god! It’s finished!!! I finally finished reviewing Shouso Strip!

I lost words in describing how amazing this album is. What a wonderful experience it was for my brain and my ears. My hearing cells are very happy right now.

My feeling after listening to this album? Shiina Ringo is really talented and creative, she has the ability to make every single song original and special. I don’t get the usual feeling of  “repetitiveness” while listening to Shouso Strip. It is amazing how I can enjoy every track off the album (just like Hikki’s album!) This is just pure awesomeness!!! How can she be soo awesome? I love her raging and emotional vocal and her ways of mixing different genres of music together.

You might not get the idea of how awesome this album is by just reading my review, but I will tell you, this album is epic and fantastic. It’s flawless!!RWAR~

I don’t know how I’m gonna review it…every song links together perfectly…Oh my god how can she creat something so awesome like this!!!

I can’t tell you how much I loved Wild, it is seriously a wild and sexy song from Namie. I was a bit worried at first because I wonder if she can still come up with good works like 60s70s80s but my worries are all gone! Gone with the wild hoho! Wild is a fast paced dance song comprised of fun techno beats and catchy melody. You get excited just by listening to it, it is so addictive! Towards the end of the song when Namie repeatedly singing “get wild get wild…” its as if she is casting a spell upon me…Oh my god!

Dr. was featured in Namie’s newest Vidal Sassoon CM (btw you guys should go check the CM out it is beautiful! <3)

I thought the song was weird when I first listen to it, in the beginning it has the “outer-space/future” feeling to it, but later on during the main chorus it sounds more classical to me. Dr. grew onto me later, because the arrangement of the song is just so gorgeous and fun, it sounds so fresh and unique especially during the bridge part when everything suddenly goes deaf (underwater like sound). It’s something I haven’t hear for a long time, just weird and fun at the same time.

Conclusion

Wild/Dr. did not disappoint me in anyways, it did made me a more hardcore Amuro fan. I mean this single is flawless!!! With the sexy, exciting Wild and outer-space, back-to-the-future like Dr. You cannot deny the greatness of this single, I’m totally in love with it *3*

Yo guys it’s Namie endorsing Coca Cola Zero!~ Ooh her smile is beautiful!

I always have weird,unrealistic dreams..(play with dinosaurs, doing bungee jumping on the moon etc etc) So I always want to dream something more realistic..

And recently I have been dreaming…very realistically, like doing SAT problems and yard work, all the things that happens in my life.

Last night in my dream I was visiting someone’s music review blog, and the owner wrote a post about me been lazy and always post useless Youtube links or artists news (SNSD/Hikki’s new song). So anyways he was cussing at me for been irresponsible and never write good reviews…

Oh my gosh I was so mad in my dream and my mind was so clear…it’s like it really happened..The weird thing is that I dreamed of myself woke up and was thinking about this issue then I wake up again…this time for real @_@

What does this dream mean lol!

Oh yes and I kinda changed my review system…Because it takes me a long time to think about what to write and I end up writing too much useless junk that I don’t even bother to read…I can’t write nice and short like Bozu so I decide to go simple and clean~

So it’s like I first describe what type of song it is, fun/addictive/boring then I just say what I feel about this song, like a short description. In the end I add how many times I replayed this song. (I really don’t know if this part is helpful at all,  I don’t normally replay a song for over 40 times, the number might appear large to me but small to you guys so…)

Oh god I just don’t know, I might switching back and forth. My brain is like broken tofu now -__-

Btw congrats to Shiina Ringo!!! Her newest album beat out GReeeeN and is currently No.1 on the Oricon chart!~

~I am soooo impressed with GReeeeN!!! Their newest album Shio, Kosho is NO.1 on Oricon Chart for 2 weeks and have sold over 600,000 copies already! That’s very impressive despite the fact that they never show their faces (am I right about this one? I have never seem GReeeeN taking photo w/o covering their faces)

~I changed my review system a bit, I realized that I never use the “replay” function I mentioned. (Replay means the # of times you will most likely replay the song, meaning how addictive it is judged by me)

Hikari: exciting, catchy,addictive

-A fantastic opening track for the album with slight techno feelings to it and memorable chorus. I cannot say how wonderful the song is, it is just perfect in every-ways. Perfect x3

Kuchibue: cheerful, lighthearted

-Uplifting track that makes you smile, the funky beats sounds childish and happy.

Haruka: heartwarming, lovely, touching

-Beautiful song with memorable chorus, the rap blends perfectly with the song. The mid-tempo pace sending off smoothing and calming vibe. It is a song with strong and touching emotions.

Ayumi: another cheerful song, not as addictive

-Begin with carefree violin playing, it is also a carefree song. The chorus is not as addictive or catchy as the previous tracks, it did grew into me slowly. However the short violin part was good and cute.

Itsumademo: heart-calming, sweet

-Much more slow than other tracks, I love the sound of baby’s laughter which makes the song sweet and warming. The chorus does not stand out much but the overall feeling of the song is beautiful and loving.

Tabibito: uplifting, fast

-Very very very nice intro, but the later on part was not what I have expected…the raps were very fast, so was the chorus. The song is very exciting and has strong summer/party feeling to it. I love the short guitar solo, it sounds fantastic!!!

Hallelujuah!!!:cheerful, carefree and refreshing

-fast beats->claps->suddenly a intro that was not what I was expecting again…Just like the song name it is very upbeat and happy. The song is interesting with fun raps, it is just way to happy!! Like gorillas gone wild haha

Story: calming, smoothing

-A typical mid-tempo song from GReeeeN with ordinary chorus and raps but is very calming and sweet.

Setsuna: unique, catchy, addictive

-One of my favorite track from the album. Setsuna is well arranged with memorable chorus and fantastic melody, makes the song unique and addictive. It is a lovely mid-tempo ballad that stands out among other tracks.

Fuyo no Aruhi no Uta: lovely, warming, cute

-A slow paced song with intro that feeling like a winter ballad. Ooh never-mind it is actually a Christmas song! It sounds very heart smoothing and sweet, especially with the little tinkle sounds that feels like winter and snow.

Tobira: freshing, uplifting

-Typical GReeeeN song that feels happy and carefree. Most of GReeeeN’s songs sounds pretty similar to me, but they are generally good with nice chorus so I don’t get bored or tired of listening to them. I love the pianos played in Tobira.

Sora e no Tegami: traditional, ancient, romantic

-A song with ancient Japanese feeling to it, yes it sounds very much like traditional Japanese music. I loved it, it is unique and beautiful. For some reason I think the song feels very very very romantic! Ahhh I don’t know why…it sounds so romantic and sweet to me <3

Fubo Uta: enjoyable, constant, peaceful

-Smoothing and cute song, there is no big jumps between the song, the melody and beats are pretty constantly throughout the song. I don’t think it is addictive but it is full of emotion, especially when members joined together, the song is very peaceful and calming.

* Kiseki was also included in this album, although it is in GReeeeN’s previous album already. I guess the overall feeling of the song fits this album?

Outro: weird, confusing

-First few seconds of the song is completely silent, electric guitar and weird, unnamed voices began to take over after the first 10 seconds or so. I just don’t understand this hidden track…is it a hint of their next upcoming work? It can’t even count as a song to me…

-Repeat: 0 times

Conclusion

Shio, Kosho is a fantastic album composed of wonderful and amazing tracks! I did not find any song in the album that sounds like crap or is been poorly produced. GReeeeN is not afraid to try different mixes or genres, they like to add surprising and funky things to the song like in Tabibito and Hallelulah!!! Like I said GReeeN’s music sometimes sounds repetitive (mid tempo with raps) but I love how they deliver the emotion and how they can make every song sounds good to me haha! Well done GReeeeN! <3 I just love your carefree and uplifting style!
